This is a crash course covering fundamentals of coking, key issues and best practices. This course will swiftly get you up to speed on all aspects of cokers – from fundamentals and design to operation, safety and profitability while balancing between theoretical and practical knowledge.
This course starts with basics of coking and what goes on inside the coke drums. The training includes explanation and discussions of small cycle steps during drum switching. This training is highly interactive to emphasize importance of each small cycle step and consequences if a short cut is taken.
Dr. Goyal has serviced more than 70 cokers around the world, including trouble shooting both common and unusual issues, such as hot spots, drum cracking, lower silicone usage, fire hazards, and safety and reliability. He is widely sought for his expertise by refinery operators.
Dr. Goyal has worked for several companies as a heavy oil processing advisor, including Amoco, BP, and Shell Oil Company. He has also consulted for many other oil companies around the world.
Dr. Goyal has led several different courses and routinely teaches refinery operators and engineers on the principles and concepts relevant to optimal refinery management. He is also the father of two physicians and grandfather to five children who all continue to engage his teaching skills.
